Planting Refresh in Cambridgeshire

New planting creates new enthusiasm

The owners of this garden were struggling - one did enjoy gardening but the other thought of it as a necessary chore. The demands of family life meant that this previously beautiful garden had got on top of them, and it was a battle to look after it, rather than an enjoyable place to relax.

The first step was to refresh the pond area - we added some areas of self binding gravel to create a new seating area and re-define the planting beds. The excavated soil from this area was used to create a mounded planting area to save unnecessary waste removal and also helps bring height to the back boundary.

We selected plants that were going to be reasonably easy to look after, as well as giving long lasting colour and interest through the year. We provided a maintenance plan, and came to check in the following spring and give some guidance on cutting back. It was a thrill to discover both clients absolutely loving being in the garden, and to hear it was no longer a chore to weed the beds now they knew what they were weeding for!
